Skincare Prep for Makeup
The best makeup application starts with skincare always. Prepping your skin to look amazing on your wedding day months ahead is the best way to achieve great glowing skin. However, I get it. You’ve been busy making decisions for everything else but your beauty routine for the day of your wedding.
If you’re here on the day of your wedding, that’s ok. Together, we can help you look and feel amazing.
Take a look at the guide below to help you with your beauty routine. It is listed in the order you will need for your skin prep. I have also listed recommendations of popular products that I have used that you can easily find online to purchase.
Skincare Prep
Cleansing Oil
Dissolve away impurities on the skin.
Example:
Anua Heartleaf Cleansing Oil
Start with clean skin always. Double cleansing assures that all previous makeup and dirt that is on your face gets cleared away ready for glowy skin. To double cleanse start with a cleansing oil.
Gentle Face Wash
Cleanse your skin for skincare and makeup.
Example:
Anua Pore Deep Cleansing Foam
2. A cleanser helps remove the cleansing oil and wash away impurities. This step is a non-negotiable to prepare your skin for all the followings steps.
Toner or Essence
Easily add hydration to your face using a toner.
Example:
Anua Rice 70 + Ceramide Milky Toner
3. A toner balances the pH on your face and provides hydration.
Serum
A variety of serum options allow you to cater to your skincare needs.
Example:
Centella Ampoule
4. Serums are concentrated skincare products that cater to your specific needs. Choose a hydrating serum to deliver extra moisture to your skin or a brightening serum to help your skin look fresh and glowy.
Eye Serum
A great eye serum hydrates your eye area for flawless looking makeup.
Example:
Dr.Althea To Be Youthful Eye Serum
5. Using an eye cream before makeup adds hydration to your eye area, smooths fine lines and helps the concealer from creasing.
Face Moisturizer
An essential skincare step for great makeup.
Example: La Roche-Posay Double Repair Face Moisturizer
6. A face moisturizer is essential after cleansing your face. If you don’t have serums or eye creams, a moisturizer is a must to lock in hydration on your face. Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type.
Lightweight for oily skin
Richer for dry skin
Lip Balm
Hydrate your dry lips with a lip balm before your lipstick application.
Example: LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask
7. Get rid of dry flakey lips using a lip balm or lip mask. After your makeup is done, remove the lip balm to reveal kissable lips ready for your lip liner.
Primer
Choose a primer based on your skin type for long lasting makeup.
Example:
Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm - Universal
8. A primer is based on preference but helps provide extra longevity for oily skin. There are glowy primer options for dry skin, too.
Now you are ready for makeup application!
